Namma Yatri Debuts Namma Transit for Real-Time Multimodal Commuting in Bengaluru
Available initially to a limited audience, the service uses GTFS open-data feeds via ONDC to guide riders across Bengaluru’s transit network ahead of a citywide roll-out next week
Overview
- Namma Transit tracks metro and auto rides in real time, advising users on the correct station, platform, gate and transfer timing during journeys.
- The feature is live for select users after its July 25 launch and set to reach all riders within a week.
- Built on the Open Network for Digital Commerce using GTFS and IUDX standards, the feature enables interoperable journey planning and unified access to BMTC bus and metro data.
- At the launch, Namma Yatri unveiled its MadeForBLR: Namma Mobility Blueprint 2030, a 10-point agenda targeting a 70% public transport modal share to halve commute times and emissions.
- Bengaluru lawmakers, including MP Tejasvi Surya, have urged regulators to lift shared auto bans and open the market to private bus operators to meet rising transport demand.
