Overview

  • Commuters can now purchase Namma Metro tickets via the official app, Paytm, WhatsApp chatbot and nine consumer platforms including EaseMyTrip, Rapido and Redbus.
  • The rollout completes the metro link in Bengaluru’s multimodal chain by building on auto-rickshaw and cab bookings already available on ONDC since 2023.
  • Interoperable bus ticketing and new end-to-end journey-planning features have been introduced across ONDC-enabled apps to streamline transfers between metro and bus services.
  • BMRCL Managing Director M. Maheshwar Rao called the upgrade a crucial step toward integrating first-, middle- and last-mile connectivity within a single digital ecosystem.
  • The initiative aligns with Karnataka’s target of achieving a 70% public transport modal share by 2030 through open-loop payments and real-time data integration.
