Namibia and Zimbabwe Clinch 2026 T20 World Cup Berths in Harare

Seventeen of the 20 places are now set, with the last three to be decided at next week’s Asia–EAP qualifier in Oman.

Overview

  • Namibia secured a 63-run semi-final win over Tanzania after slipping to 41-4, led by JJ Smit’s unbeaten 61 and 3-16 and Gerhard Erasmus’s 55.
  • Hosts Zimbabwe qualified by beating Kenya by seven wickets, with Brian Bennett striking 51 off 25 to seal the chase with five overs remaining.
  • Reaching the Africa Regional Final confirmed both teams’ berths, and Saturday’s final in Harare will not alter the qualifiers from the region.
  • The field stands at 17 confirmed teams for the 20-nation tournament, with the Asia–EAP event in Oman from 8–17 October set to decide the remaining three spots.
  • Namibia advance to a fourth consecutive T20 World Cup and Zimbabwe return after missing 2024, with the 2026 edition scheduled for 7 February to 8 March in India and Sri Lanka.
