Naidu Inaugurates ₹340-Crore Bio-Ethanol Plant in Nellore

The privately funded facility plans to convert broken rice into fuel for India’s blending program.

Overview

  • The Vishwa Samudra bio-ethanol plant was opened at the Nandha Gokulam campus in Edagali village in Nellore district.
  • Built on 24 acres, the grain-based unit has a stated capacity of 200 kilolitres of ethanol per day with captive power.
  • Company representatives said the plant will source about 15,000 tonnes of broken or damaged rice each month from more than 300 mills within a 250-km radius.
  • Vishwa Samudra reported a ₹340 crore project cost for the plant within a ₹450 crore campus outlay, projecting 250 direct and over 300 indirect jobs.
  • Naidu also launched the Nandha Gokulam Life School and the Save the Bull (Nandi Power) initiative, which includes bull-driven electricity generation and a goshala housing more than 400 cattle.
