Nagavara Flyover Loop at Hebbal to Open Ahead of Independence Day

Reduced lanes with ongoing metro works may shift congestion toward the Baptist Hospital bus stop

The long-awaited infrastructure upgrade is aimed at reducing the notorious bottlenecks at the Hebbal interchange

Overview

  • The Bangalore Development Authority’s Nagavara-to-Hebbal flyover loop is nearly complete and slated to open before August 15
  • The loop forms one half of a dual-ramp system designed to separate airport-bound traffic by linking Tumakuru Road, Outer Ring Road, Nagavara and KR Puram corridors
  • Crews have dismantled two spans over the KR Puram section during final works, temporarily narrowing lanes and sustaining peak-hour delays of up to 30 minutes
  • Metro construction barricades between Manyata Tech Park and Kalyan Nagar continue to cause severe morning jams, complicating traffic flow around the interchange
  • The project missed earlier April and May deadlines due to heavy vehicular movement and required inter-agency approvals, including Railway clearance for composite steel girders
