Nagaland University Finalizes First Cohort for Northeast Startup Incubation Hub

Selected entrepreneurs begin a six-month incubation programme backed by NEC sponsorship with seed grants of up to ₹5 lakh.

Overview

  • Nagaland University’s Kohima campus was confirmed in July as one of four regional hubs under a central scheme to boost early-stage ventures in the Northeast.
  • From 145 region-wide applicants, 44 entrepreneurs were chosen for the initial Kohima cohort, including 16 from Arunachal Pradesh, six from Assam, four from Manipur and 18 from Nagaland.
  • Up to ₹5 lakh in seed funding will be awarded to the 50 highest-performing incubatees to help turn their ideas into viable businesses.
  • Incubatees will participate in workshops, ideathons, bootcamps and hackathons while receiving one-on-one mentorship from industry experts over six months.
  • The initiative is sponsored by the North Eastern Council and implemented by the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
