Nagaland Cabinet Overhauls Inner Line Permit Rules and Launches Reservation Policy Commission

Overview

  • The cabinet overhauled the ILP system by exempting government employees’ dependents, broadening online application categories to include roles from drivers to lawyers, authorizing employer guarantors, adopting a 2:1 revenue-sharing model for registry fees, and maintaining offline issuance until smart cards roll out.
  • A five-member commission will be established within a month to conduct a comprehensive review of the state’s job reservation policy, featuring two IAS officers and representatives from Tenyimi Union, Central Nagaland Tribes Council and Eastern Naga People’s Organisation.
  • The Higher Education department was directed to re-examine the absorption proposal for 147 assistant professors under due process before submitting a revised plan for final approval.
  • Ministers ordered authorities to expedite clearances for the remaining 33 km of the Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited pipeline to ensure timely project completion.
  • The cabinet reaffirmed support for the core principles of the ENPO memorandum of settlement and agreed to negotiate the 12 outstanding divergence points on the Frontier Nagaland demand.
