Nag Ashwin Says ‘Kalki 2898 ADSequel Is 2–3 Years Away

The director attributes the longer timeline to the project’s scale alongside cast scheduling challenges.

Overview

  • Nag Ashwin said he does not have an exact start date for the sequel, though he hopes filming can begin later this year.
  • He pointed to the need to bring a large ensemble together and to bigger pre-visualised action set-pieces as reasons the project cannot start immediately.
  • The director noted that post-production will outlast the shoot, placing completion on a two–three-year horizon.
  • Earlier indications of a December 2025 production start have been tempered, with plans now described as tentative.
  • Ashwin said the follow-up will emphasize Prabhas’s Karna and Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama, after a first film that earned around ₹1,000 crore worldwide.
