Nadex SEC Registration Opens Path for Crypto.com to Offer U.S. Single‑Stock Futures

SEC acknowledgement creates a formal route for security‑futures listings without approving any individual contracts.

Overview

  • Nadex filed a Form 1‑N that became effective on Monday, Sept. 14, and the SEC formally acknowledged the filing on Sept. 16, creating a statutory route for Crypto.com’s U.S. derivatives arm to list security futures.
  • The Form 1‑N is a notice registration and does not approve specific contracts; Nadex must file listing standards, submit each contract’s terms, and obtain any required certifications before trading can begin.
  • The filing names 10 proposed reference securities for cash‑settled futures, including Apple, Amazon, Nvidia, Tesla and SpaceX, but those contracts have not been certified by regulators or started trading.
  • Nadex is already registered with the CFTC as a designated contract market and clearing organization, and Crypto.com says it is working with both the SEC and the CFTC on novel single‑stock perpetuals that raise jurisdiction, clearing and margining questions.
  • Rivals and partners are moving in parallel: Coinbase, Kalshi, Kraken and CME are pursuing comparable products while routing and capital links with firms such as Robinhood and Citadel aim to supply order flow and infrastructure, leaving launch timing and customer access still uncertain.
