Mysuru’s 64th Heritage Music Festival Underway, Inauguration and T.M. Krishna Tonight
The Mysuru series marks its 64th year at V.V. Mohalla’s 8th Cross pandal.
Overview
- The Sri Prasanna Vidya Ganapathi Mandali Charitable Trust is staging the concerts as part of Ganesha festivities at the 8th Cross Ganesha Pandal in V.V. Mohalla.
- The formal opening is scheduled for 6 p.m. today, to be inaugurated by entrepreneur Capt. G.R. Gopinath in the presence of Trust president M. Jagannath Shenoy.
- A vocal performance by Vid. T.M. Krishna will follow, with Vidu. Akkarai Subhalakshmi on violin, Vid. Jayachandra Rao on mridanga and Vid. Chandrashekar Sharma on ghata.
- The festival began with a Nadaswara recital by Vid. Melukote Nagesh, accompanied by Vid. Keshav Mohankumar, Vid. B.S. Prashanth and Vid. Sharath Koushik.
- The programme continues on Aug. 29 with theatre songs by Chandrashekar Achar at 5:30 p.m. and a Nadaswara–violin jugalbandi by the Nemmara Brothers and Akkarai Sisters at 6:45 p.m.
