Overview
- On July 10 at 9:18 pm a black car tailed and intercepted an autorickshaw on Ramanuja Road in Mysuru before four relatives of a POCSO case survivor emerged and attacked its occupants with machetes.
- CCTV footage shows the assailants striking Rajanna, Kumuda, Vishalakshi and Renukamma for over a minute as dozens of bystanders remained passive.
- Police say the assault was triggered by Rajanna’s relationship with a woman from the attackers’ family, who had previously eloped amid a dispute in a 2023 POCSO case.
- Krishnaraja police have charged Ramu, Soumya, Abbaiyya and Prasad with attempt to murder and launched a citywide manhunt to apprehend them.
- All four injured family members are in stable condition at K.R. Hospital as investigators collect witness statements and analyze forensic and video evidence.
