Mysuru Banana Festival Opens With 100+ Varieties, KAPPEC Pledges Support

  • The two-day event at Nanjaraj Bahadur Choultry runs November 8–9 with a public display and sale of more than 100 indigenous and rare cultivars.
  • KAPPEC managing director C. N. Shivaprakash inaugurated the festival and announced technology support plus financing of up to ₹15 lakh for packaging, grading, marketing and agri enterprises.
  • He also urged farmer groups to target out-of-State demand and promised stall space for producers on KAPPEC’s one-acre Bengaluru campus.
  • Conservators and exhibitors, including Prasad Rama Hegade and Ravishankar B. P., are showcasing rare types such as Red Banana, Finger Banana and Sahasra Baale, with suckers and saplings available.
  • Stalls feature banana-based foods, fibre crafts and other value-added products, with Sunday’s programme including a children’s art contest at 10:30 a.m. and a cooking competition at 12 p.m.
