• From July 5 to August 8 participants compete online to reduce 365 qualifiers to 48 semifinalists, selecting eight from each of six regions
• East Chicago’s first eight qualifiers began voice, production and mastering sessions this week at DLS recording studios
• Public television networks and the contest’s online platforms will stream live semifinals every Sunday at 8 p.m. starting August 17
• The grand final with orchestral accompaniment and audience voting is set for October 5
• Organized by Mexico’s Secretaría de Cultura, México Canta aims to revive large-scale public music festivals and strengthen binational cultural exchange
