MV Confederation Set to Resume P.E.I.-N. Ferry Service in December
The ferry is expected to return to service on December 6 following ahead-of-schedule repairs to its damaged bow visor.
- After a collision with a wharf on September 15, repairs to the MV Confederation are anticipated to be completed by December 3.
- Northumberland Ferries Ltd. confirmed that mechanical failure was not a factor in the collision, and the investigation is ongoing.
- The ferry will operate four daily round trips between Caribou, N.S., and Wood Islands, P.E.I., until the season ends on December 20.
- Service has been disrupted for over two months, exacerbated by the MV Saaremaa's engine issues and subsequent return to its Quebec owner.
- A new ferry purchased by Transport Canada, the MV Fanafjord, is expected to replace the Saaremaa next season.
