Black Ball has cancelled the 9:30 p.m. sailings between Port Angeles and Victoria between June 12 and June 25 and the 6:10 a.m. sailings from Victoria between June 13 and June 26. Travellers with reservations on those sailings have been notified and will be offered alternative sailings, or a full refund.

Overview

  • Black Ball Ferry Line will operate three daily sailings of the MV Coho until June 25, delaying its full summer schedule to June 26.
  • The 9:30 p.m. sailings from Port Angeles (June 12–25) and 6:10 a.m. departures from Victoria (June 13–26) have been canceled.
  • Impacted passengers have been notified via phone and email and offered alternative sailings or full refunds.
  • The ferry service has reported a 20% drop in ridership, attributed to U.S. tariff threats and the 'Buy Canadian' movement reducing cross-border travel.
  • Community reactions highlight frustration over the cancellations and blame strained U.S.-Canada relations for the travel decline.
