Muswellbrook Hit by Fourth Earthquake in Three Months

A magnitude-4.1 quake in NSW's Hunter region raises concerns of an ongoing earthquake swarm near a major coal mine.

Geoscience Australia reports the earthquake's epicenter was near the Mount Arthur coal mine, 3km deep.
The quake caused power outages for over 2,500 homes and businesses in Muswellbrook.
This is the fourth earthquake over magnitude 4 in the region since August, indicating a possible 'earthquake swarm.'
Seismologists suggest the swarm could lead to hundreds more small to moderate shocks in the coming months.
