Museo de Arte Moderno Opens 147-Work Revueltas Family Retrospective

The first exhibition to unite four siblings draws on fresh archival discoveries to reconsider their cultural impact.

Overview

  • Estéticas Revueltas. Una familia de vanguardia is now on view in Mexico City, presenting a cross-disciplinary portrait of Fermín, Silvestre, Rosaura and José Revueltas.
  • Curators assembled 147 works from 36 public and private archives, spanning paintings, scores, photographs, films, books, prints, posters and documents.
  • Newly surfaced materials include juvenile piano compositions by Silvestre recovered by CENIDIM and a 35 mm roll from José’s unfinished 1945 film photographed by Manuel Álvarez Bravo.
  • The show foregrounds the siblings’ engagement with labor, revolutionary politics and anti-fascism across music, visual art, dance, film and literature.
  • Running through early 2026, the exhibition features a public program and a forthcoming catalogue, with plans to tour to Michoacán and Durango and tie into 2026 commemorations.
