Overview
- Murrieta Fire & Rescue responded around 4:42–4:45 a.m. on Dec. 20 to the 41000 block of Knight Drive after reports of a residential fire.
- Crews found a mobile home, carport, three vehicles, two outbuildings and a large pine tree fully involved, shifted from an interior rescue to a defensive attack, and controlled the blaze in about 45 minutes.
- Two people and multiple household pets died in the fire, and three occupants were taken to a hospital; officials have not released the patients’ conditions.
- A close friend identified the victims to the Los Angeles Times as sisters Abagail, 11, and Emma Keenan, 12, said twin Ashley survived, and reported parents Stacey Hales and Adam Keenan are recovering, with the mother’s eyesight improving.
- The friend’s GoFundMe had raised more than $54,000 by Monday, while Murrieta Fire & Rescue and the Murrieta Police Department continue to investigate the origin and cause and have not released the victims’ names.
