Murrieta Home Invasion Leaves 70-Year-Old Dead as Suspect Is Arrested After K-9 Search

  • Officers located 36-year-old Manuel Arturo Alvarez of Modesto hiding in a ravine near Wild Flower Drive and took him into custody after deploying a K-9.
  • Alvarez was treated for injuries from the apprehension and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, where he remains in custody.
  • The woman is hospitalized in stable condition, and detectives are asking witnesses to contact Detective Munyer with information.
