Murder Inquiry Opened After Man Missing From Chester Since February

Police say new lines of inquiry led them to treat the long-running disappearance as a potential homicide and they have arrested four people to assist enquiries.

Overview

  • Cheshire Police announced on Thursday, June 25 that they have opened a murder investigation into the disappearance of 39-year-old Martin Conway and have arrested four people on suspicion of murder.
  • Two of the suspects, a 35-year-old woman from Winsford and a 37-year-old man from Northwich, have been released on bail while a 44-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man from Chester remain in custody.
  • Conway was last seen in Chester city centre on the night of February 1 into the early hours of February 2, 2026, and was wearing a black coat with a fur-lined hood, grey joggers or black leggings, and white trainers.
  • Officers say no body has been found and that 'extensive' enquiries that failed to locate Conway led detectives to conclude he may have come to harm.
  • Detective Inspector Andrea Price asked anyone with information to call 101 quoting incident 26000233824 or to visit the force’s dedicated operation page as investigators continue to gather evidence and seek answers for the family and local community.
