Murcia to Unveil Monumental Arch Thursday as Córdoba’s Velá de la Fuensanta Begins Friday

Organizers have finalized civic‑religious programs mixing processions, liturgies, local gastronomy, municipal honors.

  • Murcia will receive its Patrona on Thursday, 4 September, crossing the Puente de los Peligros under a new 12‑meter floral arch with 5,000 flowers and 4,000 microlights, as the Coral Discantus sings the Himno a Murcia and the city’s fair opens.
  • The Murcian route debuts decorative reposteros bearing the city crest and a painted replica of the Virgin by Andrés Carrasco, with a ceremonial finish along calle Arenal and the traditional petalada.
  • Córdoba’s Velá de la Fuensanta runs 5–8 September, with the traslado on Saturday 6 after the 18:45 blessing at el Pocito and 19:00 Mass, led by capataz Luis Moreno with the Cornetas y Tambores de Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta.
  • On Sunday 7, Bishop Jesús Fernández will preside the 19:30 Mass in the Mezquita‑Catedral before the return procession, during which Mayor José María Bellido will present the city estandarte; Monday 8 features the principal feast day Mass at the sanctuary at 10:30.
  • The neighborhood program includes the traditional huevá on Sunday 7 at 12:30 with more than 2,000 eggs sponsored by Mercacórdoba, plus the sardiná on Saturday and a salmorejá popular on Monday; separately, the Virgen de la Merced will visit the Cathedral on Sunday 14 for a jubilar Mass at 12:00.
