Murcia Braces for Heatwave While Galicia Basks in Sunshine and Mendoza Faces Weather Alerts

A Saharan air mass is forecast to drive a multi-day heatwave in Murcia with highs near 40 °C by midweek.

  • Meteorological services have confirmed a heatwave in the Region of Murcia from Sunday through at least Thursday, with peak temperatures of 38–40 °C expected by Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • AEMET meteorologist Rubén del Campo says the surge is powered by warm, dry air advected from Africa under persistent anticyclonic conditions.
  • Galicia’s Atlantic coast will see unbroken sunshine on Sunday, zero precipitation and highs between 30 °C and 39 °C under moderate northeast winds.
  • Barcelona is forecast to reach a maximum of 28 °C today with a 35% chance of isolated afternoon storms and easterly gusts up to 38 km/h.
  • In Mendoza, Saturday brought morning rain, snow in the cordillera, a yellow wind alert from SMN and the temporary closure of the Paso Cristo Redentor pass.
