Overview

  • The Region of Murcia joined the 9th edition of the national '1m2 contra la basuraleza' campaign on June 7, mobilizing volunteers across 26 operations in coastal coves and five regional parks
  • Volunteers used a mobile application to record waste types, locations and quantities in real time, creating data to guide environmental policymaking
  • Hard-to-reach sites were tackled via boat in Águilas, complementing land cleanups at Salinas de San Pedro, Sierra de la Pila, Monte Arabí, Calblanque and El Valle-Carrascoy
  • On June 9 Buceo Rías Baixas unveiled the 'Recuperación do Morrazo Somerxido' project in Galicia, pairing underwater debris removals with outdoor exhibitions and recovery workshops
  • The initial dive in Aldán retrieved nearly 400 kg of fishing gear, plastics and tires, and upcoming workshops will transform collected materials into useful or artistic items under a circular-economy model
