Murcia and Andalusia See Decline in Divorce and Separation Filings in Q1 2025

Judiciary data show that both regions still record rates above the national average per 100,000 inhabitants.

  • The Region of Murcia logged 838 divorce, separation and annulment filings from January through March, down 1.6% from the same period last year.
  • Andalusian courts registered 4,514 dissolution demands in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 3.5% year-on-year decrease.
  • Murcia saw consensual divorce petitions rise 6.3% to 462 cases, while non-consensual requests fell 10.3% to 356.
  • In Andalusia, consensual separations increased by 2.7% and contested separation filings dropped 22.5%, and divorces by mutual agreement declined by just 0.5%.
  • Modification-of-measures proceedings decreased by 8.7% in Murcia, and Andalusia recorded a 4.2% uptick in contested change requests.
