Munich’s Olympiapark Opens 70-Meter Skylift as Interim Viewpoint

The lift restores elevated city views during the Olympiaturm’s lengthy renovation closure.

Overview

  • The Skylift began operating on 25 August in front of the Actionsportzentrum at the former ice stadium after a short delay from the planned 22 August start.
  • Four barrier-free gondolas carrying up to 20 people rise to 70 meters, rotate for a 360-degree view, include a small glass floor window, and offer a rooftop "On-Top" ride option.
  • Hours are Monday to Friday 11:00–20:00, Saturday 11:00–22:00, and Sundays/holidays 10:00–20:00, with on-site ticket sales now and an online shop to follow.
  • Pricing is €10 for adults, €7 for children up to 1.30 meters, free for ages 0–3, and €15 for the rooftop "On-Top" ticket.
  • The installation runs in the Olympiapark through 7 September, moves to the Oktoberfest grounds during the Wiesn, and returns on 13 October to serve as an alternative viewpoint while the Olympiaturm remains closed until about early 2027.
