Overview

• The Gelbe Tonne system, designed for packaging waste, is expected to begin citywide in Munich in January 2027 following a successful pilot program conducted in 2024-2025.

• The Gelbe Tonne will be offered in three sizes (240L, 770L, 1100L) and emptied every two weeks, with costs covered by the Dual System Germany through packaging levies.
