Overview

  • In a series of incidents reported this week, suspects used the so-called Zetteltrick by asking for paper and a note to gain access to seniors’ homes, according to Munich police.
  • In Berg am Laim on August 21 around 15:00, a woman requested pen and paper while an accomplice entered unnoticed and stole a suitcase containing jewelry worth thousands of euros; investigators are seeking witnesses.
  • Later that day around 17:30 in Schwabing, two women fled after an older resident heard noises and confronted them; police are asking for tips from the Leonhard-Frank-, Schleißheimer- and Hiltensperger-Straße area.
  • On August 18 in Moosach, a man dictated a message as an over-80 woman wrote it and then stole several hundred euros; Kommissariat 55 requests observations from Weißenböck-, Meggendorfer- or Seydlitzstraße between 10:00 and 12:00, and no suspect description is available.
  • In a separate fraud case in Steinheim, an 81-year-old was duped by fake bank employees into a low five-figure transfer; four suspects were detained and two are now in pretrial custody on gang and commercial fraud allegations.
