Overview

  • Mayor Dieter Reiter inaugurated a free football pitch, streetball court and 150-square-metre skatespot at Alter Botanischer Garten and Karl-Stützl-Platz this weekend.
  • Permanent 30 km/h speed limits now apply on Elisenstraße westbound and Luisenstraße between Elisen- and Karlstraße to enhance safety around the new recreational areas.
  • Regulations banning the carrying and consumption of alcohol, cannabis and weapons within the park remain in force to curb its former crime-hotspot status.
  • A dedicated task force working with Münchner Polizei and Kommunaler Außendienst has implemented tree trimming, improved lighting, video surveillance and increased patrols.
  • All facilities are free to the public under Munich’s broader plan to transform the area into a vibrant urban destination near its main station.
