Munich Launches MyRadl, a Unified Bike-Share Across 37 Municipalities

The region-wide network targets faster last‑mile trips to transit.

Overview

  • MyRadl, which launched Thursday, opens with about 2,000 bikes across roughly 1,000 locations, with 700 in Munich and a planned ramp to 6,700 including one third e-bikes.
  • Users book bikes in the MVV, MVGO, or Nextbike apps, and Nextbike is rolling out the fleet across participating towns.
  • Parking works at marked mobility points and in GPS-defined virtual zones shown in the apps, which prevents random drop-offs without requiring docking racks.
  • Rides can start in one municipality and end in another, which helps commuters close the gap between rail or bus stops and their final destinations.
  • Standard pricing starts at €1 per 30 minutes for a pedal bike and €3 for a pedelec, with day rates and discounts for some public transport subscribers, and the program uses shared municipal funding with added federal grants and plans to add about 15 more communities next year.
