Munich Doctor Sentenced to Over Six Years for Assaulting Sedated Patients

A gastroenterologist was convicted of sexually assaulting 17 women during medical procedures between 2017 and 2021.

The Munich Regional Court sentenced the 52-year-old doctor to six and a half years in prison for rape and sexual abuse of patients.
The assaults occurred in a shared medical practice during colonoscopy procedures while the victims were sedated.
The court found that the doctor inserted his finger into the vaginas of 17 patients without medical justification or their awareness.
The case came to light after four medical assistants reported witnessing the acts and testified against the doctor in court.
The defense denied all allegations, claiming a conspiracy involving the doctor's former colleague and staff, but the court ruled the charges were proven beyond reasonable doubt.
