Observers are conducting detailed evaluations to refine coordination protocols ahead of future exercises.

Overview

  • Around 1,000 personnel from voluntary and professional fire brigades, rescue services, police, Technisches Hilfswerk, the ABC unit and ADAC air rescue took part in the weekend exercise.
  • Exercises spanned four locations with scenarios ranging from a high-rise fire evacuation in Planegg to forest fire containment in Grasbrunn, a mass collision drill on the BMW test track in Aschheim and a hazardous materials response in Hohenbrunn.
  • The Aschheim mass collision simulation involved 24 vehicles and 30 mock casualties to test extrication techniques, on-site medical triage and rapid patient transport.
  • Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann and District Administrator Christoph Göbel observed the Aschheim drill and praised the strengthened interagency cooperation and standardized procedures.
  • After-action debriefs will guide updates to standard operating procedures and training guidelines to enhance the region’s readiness for complex disaster scenarios.
