Mumbra Police Bust Cross-State Mephedrone Ring, Seize 13.6 kg and Arrest Five

A tip-off from a hospital-area trap led detectives from Thane to Ratlam suppliers in Madhya Pradesh, marking the station’s biggest haul to date.

Overview

  • Officers recovered a total of 13.629 kilograms of mephedrone valued at about Rs 27.21 crore, according to Thane police.
  • The operation began with the arrest of Basu Umardin Sayed in Mumbra with 23.5 grams, whose interrogation identified a supply chain from Madhya Pradesh.
  • Police then seized 3.51 kilograms from Ram Singh Amar Singh Gujjar and Kailash Shambhulal Balai in Thane and 9.95 kilograms from Manohar Lal Ranglal Gujjar and Raju in Ratlam.
  • All five accused are described as history-sheeters with prior cases under the NDPS Act, the IPC and the Arms Act, and a case has been registered at Mumbra police station.
  • Thane officials said the seizure is the largest at a police-station level under the commissionerate, as Madhya Pradesh Police report separate anti-drug raids including a Ratlam MD manufacturing-unit bust with 16 arrests.
