Mumbai’s Water Stock Nears Full Capacity at 98%

Civic officials say the present stock can meet demand until the next monsoon.

  • BMC data shows the seven reservoirs hold 14,18,058 million litres, or 97.98% of capacity, as of the September 10 update.

  • Officials said the current levels are sufficient for the next 358 days, with the city targeting 14.47 lakh million litres by October 1.
  • The IMD forecasts a partly cloudy sky with light to moderate rain, and a 4.57 m high tide at 1:15 pm Wednesday, prompting cautions for waterlogging in low‑lying areas.
  • Lower (Modak Sagar), Middle and Upper Vaitarna along with Tansa feed the western supply, while Bhatsa, Vihar and Tulsi are treated at Panjarpur for distribution to the eastern suburbs.
