Overview

  • The civic body has removed 7.96 lakh metric tonnes of silt against its 9.68 lakh metric tonne target across major and minor drains.
  • Desilting of the Mithi River stands at 61.85% of its 2.14 lakh metric tonne goal after early monsoon rains and delays linked to a Rs65 crore corruption investigation.
  • An AI-driven dashboard now requires 30-second video clips and CCTV footage at each stage to verify daily progress and flag irregularities.
  • Over Rs3 crore has been reclaimed from contractors found guilty of malpractice in transport and billing of silt.
  • Additional manpower and machinery have been deployed and operations will continue during and after the monsoon to bolster Mumbai’s flood defences.
