Mumbai–Pune Missing Link Closed Three Hours for Maintenance and Mock Drill

The short, preannounced pause is meant to test corridor safety and confirm repairs after recent monsoon and crash disruptions.

Overview

  • MSRDC scheduled a three-hour closure of the Pune-to-Mumbai carriageway from 12:00 to 15:00 on Wednesday, August 12 to carry out maintenance, road-marking and a mock drill.
  • Vehicles heading from Pune to Mumbai are being diverted onto the older Khandala–Lonavala ghat section of the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, with highway police and signage managing the flow.
  • The Mumbai-to-Pune lane on the Connecting Link remains open, allowing traffic toward Pune to continue using the new corridor.
  • Authorities have advised motorists to plan alternate routes, follow traffic police directions and use the official expressway control and highway police helplines for assistance.
  • The 13.3 km Connecting Link opened in May and has faced early disruptions, including a July landslide that blocked the Pune-to-Mumbai carriageway for about 18 hours and a recent fatal crash that prompted increased monitoring.
