MumbaiAhmedabad Bullet Train Moves Into Electrification With OHE Masts Going Up

Officials say electrification work has moved onto elevated viaducts for India’s first high-speed rail line.

Overview

  • Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that installation of Overhead Electrification masts is advancing along the MumbaiAhmedabad corridor.
  • More than 20,000 masts, each 9.5 to 14.5 metres tall, are planned to support a 2×25 kV traction system powering high-speed operations.
  • OHE structures are being erected on elevated viaducts, forming critical infrastructure for reliable power delivery to the trains.
  • A network of Traction Substations and Distribution Substations is under development to ensure uninterrupted traction power along the route.
  • The 508-km project with 12 planned stations is being presented as strengthening domestic manufacturing under the Make in India initiative.
