Mumbai Woman Arrested for Stabbing Mother to Death Over Alleged Favoritism

Police say a 41-year-old daughter confessed to killing her mother after a heated argument about perceived bias toward her elder sister.

Reshma Kazi, 41, fatally stabbed her 62-year-old mother, Sabira Bano, during an argument at her home in Kurla, Mumbai, on January 2, 2025.
The argument escalated after Reshma accused her mother of showing favoritism toward her elder sister, who was often praised for her support and care.
Sabira Bano had traveled from Mumbra to visit Reshma when the altercation turned violent, leading to her being stabbed multiple times in the chest and abdomen.
Following the incident, Reshma called her brother to inform him of the murder and then surrendered at the Chunabhatti police station, confessing to the crime.
Police have arrested Reshma and are investigating the case further, confirming that her mental state is stable and that family tensions had been ongoing for years.
