Mumbai Western Line to Cancel 240 Locals on Jan 12–13 for Sixth-Line Works

Late-night engineering blocks are being used to advance capacity upgrades on Western Railway’s KandivaliBorivali stretch plus Central Railway’s Kalyan–Badlapur corridor.

Overview

  • Western Railway will cancel 120 suburban services on Monday and 120 on Tuesday, split as 60 Up and 60 Down each day, under its ongoing sixth-line project.
  • Major night blocks are scheduled on Jan 11–12 and Jan 12–13 for dismantling Point No. 104 and connecting crossovers 101–104 at Kandivali, with Up Fast shut 11:15 pm–3:15 am and Down Fast 1:00 am–4:30 am.
  • The cancellations occur within a 30‑day extended block that began the night of Dec 20/21, 2025 and runs through Jan 18, 2026, alongside a suspended fifth line and speed restrictions in the section.
  • Central Railway will run a Jan 11 mega block, diverting Main Line slow services between CSMT and Vidyavihar during 10:55 am–3:55 pm and suspending Thane–Vashi/Nerul Trans‑Harbour services from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm.
  • Night traffic and power blocks on Kalyan–Badlapur are set for the nights of Jan 10/11 and Jan 11/12, with AmbarnathVangani locals halted, some services cancelled or short‑terminated, and several Mail/Express trains diverted via KarjatPanvel–Diva.
