Overview

  • BMC reported combined storage of 13,91,784 million litres, or 96.16% of capacity, across the seven reservoirs as of Thursday morning.
  • Modak Sagar, Vehar and Tulsi are at 100% storage, Tansa is at 98.49%, Middle Vaitarna at 96.54%, Upper Vaitarna at 95.97% and Bhatsa at 95.82%.
  • Levels were at 96.74% a day earlier with 14,00,219 million litres, following sustained inflows from early and persistent monsoon rains.
  • IMD forecast generally cloudy conditions with moderate spells and the possibility of heavy rain at isolated locations, with authorities advising caution during high tides.
  • BMC previously opened Middle Vaitarna’s gates on August 18 and began releases from Upper Vaitarna on August 21 to regulate overflow, and officials say current inflows reduce the likelihood of water cuts this year.
