Overview
- The lottery starts at 11 am at Balgandharva Rangmandir, Bandra West, with a live telecast on BMC’s YouTube channel (@MyBMCMyMumbai) and Hathway Channel 26.
- Reservations will be apportioned across 227 wards: 61 seats for OBC (27%), 17 for SC, two for ST, with 50% of all seats reserved for women including those categories.
- The BMC will submit the results to the State Election Commission today, publish a draft list on November 14, invite suggestions and objections from November 14–20, and issue the final list on November 28.
- This is the first BMC election under the Urban Development Department’s October 9 rotation rules, which prioritize wards with higher SC, ST, OBC and women populations.
- With polls expected in mid-January 2026 and a Supreme Court–mandated January 31 deadline for completing local body elections, parties are recalibrating nominations as analysts say the Sena and NCP splits may give the BJP an edge.
