Mumbai Train Services Disrupted Over Weekend for Platform Expansion at CSMT
Central Railway announces night blocks on Friday and Saturday to extend platforms for 24-coach trains, affecting suburban and outstation services.

- Train services between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Byculla, as well as CSMT and Wadala, will be suspended on Friday and Saturday nights for platform extension work.
- The disruptions will last from 11:30 PM Friday to 4:30 AM Saturday, and from 11:15 PM Saturday to 9:15 AM Sunday, impacting both the Central Main Line and Harbour Line.
- Over 45 outstation trains will be short-terminated or short-originated, and three express trains—Deccan Express, Intercity Express, and Tapovan Express—have been canceled during the block period.
- More than 60 suburban local trains will face cancellations or route modifications, with key stations like Byculla, Parel, Dadar, and Kurla affected.
- The platform extension project aims to accommodate longer 24-coach trains on Platforms 12 and 13 at CSMT, with a budget allocation of ₹62.18 crore in the 2023-24 Union Budget.
