Mumbai Surpasses Shanghai and Beijing to Lead Asia in Billionaire Count

India's financial capital now ranks third globally, with New York and London holding the top spots.

Mumbai has overtaken Shanghai and Beijing to become Asia's city with the most billionaires, now home to 92 billionaires.
This marks Mumbai's first appearance in the top three cities globally for billionaire population, according to the Hurun Global Rich List 2024.
Globally, New York City leads with 119 billionaires, followed by London with 97. Beijing, previously first, is now fourth with 91 billionaires.
China remains the country with the highest number of billionaires at 814, despite losing 155 billionaires. The U.S. follows with 800, and India is third with 271.
The rapid development of artificial intelligence has been a significant driver for the creation of new billionaires, notably impacting the wealth of individuals behind major tech companies.
