• Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said automatic doors will be standard on Mumbai local trains, with rollout targeted before the end of 2025.
• A total of 238 fully air-conditioned rakes under production will feature sensor-based doors and begin entering service on Central and Western Railway sections.
• Existing non-AC trains will be retrofitted after trials of redesigned coaches that add ventilated panels, roof-mounted air circulation units and inter-car vestibules.
• The Integral Coach Factory in Chennai is building the non-AC prototypes, with the first rake expected in November for testing ahead of deployment.
