Mumbai Suburban Network Launches Coordinated Overnight Blocks for Critical Upgrades

Fast trains will run on slow tracks during overnight works at Kalyan, Ambarnath, Vashi, Thane

Overview

  • The Western Railway will impose a jumbo block between Santacruz and Mahim from midnight to 4:30 am on August 9–10 to renew tracks, signalling and overhead equipment.
  • Central Railway’s Mumbai division will carry out a special traffic and power block from 12:10 am to 6:55 am to install steel girders for the Lokgram foot overbridge at Kalyan and remove old girders between Ambarnath and Badlapur.
  • A shadow block on the AmbarnathBadlapur South-East lines from 1:15 am to 4:15 am will support de-launch operations for the proposed road overbridge.
  • Harbour Line services at Vashi will be suspended from 12:45 am to 10:45 am and Trans-Harbour trains between Thane and Turbhe will pause from 12:30 am to 5:30 am for commissioning of an advanced electronic interlocking system and road slab installation.
  • Passengers are advised to check revised schedules as fast trains switch to slow lines and select suburban services are short-terminated, extended or supplemented with special trains to maintain connectivity.
