Mumbai Skies Stay Clear as Air Quality Slides to 142–160 AQI, Health Advisories Issued

Experts say post-monsoon conditions will likely worsen pollution through winter.

Overview

  • CPCB put the city’s AQI at 160 in the moderate band, AQI.in reported an unhealthy 155 with PM2.5 at 65 µg/m³ and PM10 at 87 µg/m³, and IQAir showed 142, ranking Mumbai ninth most polluted globally on Saturday.
  • IMD forecast mainly clear weather for Sunday with temperatures around 33°C by day and near 20°C at night.
  • IMD observatories reported no rainfall across key stations, with humidity readings near 75–83% at Colaba, Santacruz and Thane-Belapur.
  • Residents saw early haze as roughly 8 km/h north‑easterly winds were too weak to disperse accumulated pollutants.
  • Authorities advised limiting strenuous outdoor activity during peak pollution hours and using masks and indoor air purifiers to reduce exposure.
