Overview
- Phase 1 of Line 9, a 4.5-km Dahisar East–Kashigaon extension with four stations, has begun CMRS inspections and is now slated for a January opening after a December deferment, introducing metro access to Mira Bhayandar for the first time.
- Line 2B is under CMRS testing, with the 5.3-km Mandale–Diamond Garden stretch in Chembur nearing readiness and offering an interchange at Mankhurd on the Harbour line, while the DN Nagar–Saraswat Nagar section is targeted for mid-2026.
- Lines 4/4A are expected to debut their first 10.5-km Thane segment from Cadbury Junction to Gaimukh by March, with single-vendor station design slowing progress and a further 10 km toward Vikhroli aimed within six months before full completion to Wadala in 2027.
- Line 6 along the JVLR is planned to be fully operational by mid-2026, with depot constraints at Kanjurmarg addressed through inspection pits and pocket lines and an initial headway of about six minutes indicated by officials.
- Officials expect at least two metro sections to open in January following CMRS clearances, and they note the Model Code of Conduct could influence inaugurations, while MSRDC targets March for the Mumbai–Pune Expressway missing link that would cut travel time by roughly 30 minutes.
