Mumbai Sets 99-Hour Low-Pressure Water Supply for Three Wards From Dec 22–26

BMC will reconnect a diverted section of the 2,400 mm Upper Vaitarna main for Metro Line 7A in a phased operation to maintain controlled supply.

Overview

  • Residents in G/North, H/East and K/East wards, including areas such as Dharavi, Bandra East, Santacruz East, Andheri East and Vile Parle, will see reduced pressure and altered supply timings.
  • The official window runs from 10 am on December 22 to 1 pm on December 26, with most outlets citing 99 hours and at least one report noting 87 hours.
  • BMC published ward-wise schedules showing low-pressure windows aligned to regular slots, including Dharavi (9 am–5 pm and 5 pm–10 pm), K/East afternoon and evening periods, and H/East late-night and early-morning periods.
  • Civic officials say the reconnection will proceed in phases to avoid a complete shutdown, with controlled supply maintained to limit disruption.
  • Residents are advised to store sufficient water, use it sparingly, and boil or filter drinking water during the work period; the operation follows earlier pipeline works conducted on December 8–9.
