Mumbai Sets 22-Hour Water Shutdown in Select Wards on Nov. 14–15

The pause enables BMC crews to replace five valves on the Tansa and Vihar mains to bolster long-term distribution reliability.

Overview

  • Water supply will be cut from 10:00 am on November 14 to 8:00 am on November 15 in L Ward (Kurla) and M (West) Ward (Chembur).
  • N Ward (Ghatkopar) and F (North) Ward (Matunga–Sion) will face a shorter outage from 3:45 am to 8:00 am on November 15.
  • The work replaces five valves—four butterfly and one sluice—on the old and new Tansa mains and the Vihar trunk main.
  • BMC released detailed locality lists, covering areas such as Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Tilak Nagar, Vidyavihar, Sion Koliwada, Wadala Truck Terminal, Dadar East, and parts of Chunabhatti.
  • Residents have been urged to store sufficient water in advance and use it sparingly, with the civic body calling for public cooperation during the maintenance.
