Mumbai Rail Update: Central Line Snag Cleared as Western and Central Plan Sunday Maintenance Blocks

Passengers should expect diversions and cancellations during the five-hour Sunday maintenance window.

Overview

  • At 8:13 am on October 31, a Sanath Nagar–JNPT freight locomotive failed near Vangani on the Up line, blocking the main track on the Neral–Vangani section.
  • On-site restart attempts did not succeed, and a relief locomotive coupled to the stranded rake by 9:15 am, clearing the line and restoring normal movement after about an hour.
  • Suburban services saw cascading delays, the S-18 local was detained, and long-distance trains 11010 and 12124 were diverted via Panvel, with nearby freight movements briefly regulated.
  • Western Railway announced a Jumbo Block on November 2 from 10:35 am to 3:35 pm between Churchgate and Mumbai Central, shifting fast services to slow lines and canceling or short-terminating selected trains at Bandra or Dadar.
  • Central Railway scheduled a November 2 mega block, diverting CSMTVidyavihar slow-line services to fast lines from 10:55 am to 3:55 pm and canceling Harbour Line services between Kurla and Vashi from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm, with special trains and temporary travel permissions arranged.
