Mumbai Police Return 1,464 Recovered Phones Worth ₹3.22 Crore Ahead of Diwali

A coordinated Zones 3–5 drive used the CEIR system to trace devices citywide.

Overview

  • Mumbai Police said the effort relied on the CEIR portal with support from cyber officers and crime detection teams.
  • The operation concluded on October 16 with public handovers across Zones 3, 4 and 5.
  • Zone-wise totals were 356 phones in Zone 3, 448 in Zone 4 and 660 in Zone 5.
  • Police also returned gold, silver and other ornaments valued at ₹21.87 lakh.
  • Earlier this week, Zone 12 ran a similar initiative returning assets worth ₹3.89 crore, including 689 phones and 2.25 kg of gold.
